NBPTS Writing Retreat

About This Activity

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standard improves teaching and student learning. National Board Certified Teachers are highly accomplished educators who meet high and rigorous standards. The National Board Certification process is an extensive, invigorating professional development opportunity for teachers. This Writing Retreat is designed for members interested in pursuing National Board Certification. Participants in this workshop will learn: 1) A general overview of the assessment process including making a manageable timeline and creating a support system; 2) The kinds of thinking and writing expected for the NBPTS process; 3) The power of videotaping your teaching; 4) Analyzing student work; 5) The assessment center exercises; and 6) Your contributions to the profession. In other words, this training will focus on the key points of preparing candidates before the school year begins. The WEAC NBPTS Candidate "Dare to Think" Writing Retreat will take place at the Paper Valley Hotel on Oct 25-27, 2013. This retreat is open to all National Board Candidates, all future retreats will only be for WEAC Members. Cost for the retreat is $125.00 for WEAC Members and $225.00 for Non-Members. Cost includes all materials, and meals will be provided to you. You are responsible for making your own hotel reservations at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton (see Lodging tab).
