This training will focus on open water swimming techniques and strategies to help you be a more efficient and confident open water swimmer! The clinic will cover techniques for various open water swimming starts, sighting buoys, pack swimming, how to deal with the unexpected, and how to navigate an open water swim course and much more! Practice what you have learned by swimming an open water swim course (20-40 min of swimming).
Anyone wanting to improve their open water swimming technique and overall comfort in cold open water! Great practice for anyone preparing for an early spring triathlon or open water swim. Must be able to swim 500 yds continuously. Wetsuits are strongly encouraged.
What to bring
Photo ID, USAT membership card (or pay for one day pass), your swim suit, triathlon wetsuit (not diving wetsuit), goggles, hair ties for long hair, swimming cap (will be provided), two towels, sunscreen, water bottle filled with water, a small snack to eat after, and a change of clothes. Showers and changing rooms are available on site.
Fee to enter Sandy Point State Park is $5 per person for MD residents and $6 per person for non-residents.
Inclement weather policy
This event will be held rain or shine, in case of extreme weather conditions such as thunderstorms or unsafe swimming conditions, as determined by the event organizers and or other officials, the event will be modified or canceled. No refunds.
This even is coached by USAT certified triathlon coach, Liz Flynn. We will have kayaks in the water as well as lifeguards dedicated to your safety.
