This exciting, performance-based camp will culminate in performance showcase on the last day of camp on the LTA stage. Musical Theatre is a high energy, dynamic program designed to get kids excited about performing. Covers basic audition skills, musical theatre dance, improv., characterization, and vocal and stage performance techniques. And plenty of games. INSTRUCTOR BIOS: Shelagh Roberts is a lifelong performer, with experience in acting, singing, and dancing. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in English/Theatre from James Madison University, where she performed leads in many main stage productions. In her formative years, she studied acting and musical theatre at Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theatre School, where she won a merit scholarship for Acting. Roberts studied voice with Broadway actress and former American University professor Susan Height Denny, and others. She has taught children’s drama at the Athenaeum in Old Town, Alexandria, and directed Musical Theatre summer camp at St. Luke’s Day School, Alexandria, VA. Michael Page graduated from Christopher Newport University majoring in Musical Theater and minoring in Dance and Lighting. He has been working with community theaters in the Alexandria area for 12 years. Michael directed The Little Mermaid for Aldersgate Church Community Theatre. He is excited to be back at camp again this year.
