(Five-Week Class) If you want to learn how to survive (and thrive) during a musical theatre dance audition, then this class is for you. Students will learn and review the most common steps used for basic musical theatre dance combinations, techniques for succeeding during a dance audition, and tips on what choreographers are looking for in dancers. During each class, a new dance combination will be taught so that students can test their dance and performance skills. The class will culminate in a mock dance audition in which students will receive feedback on their performance by guest panelists. Attire/Shoes: Please wear clothing that you can easily move in. Ballet or jazz shoes are preferred. Socks or bare feet are acceptable too. No street shoes, please. INSTRUCTOR BIO: AMY CARSON has been dancing in the Washington, D.C., metro area for 15+ years to include dancing with a jazz dance company, dance roles in musical theatre productions, specialty performances such as the Kennedy Center Honors, and more. In addition to having choreographed several award-winning local musical theatre productions, she has been teaching Theatre Jazz for ten plus years and has also taught Fosse-style workshops, Rock Star jazz, and performance workshops.
