The community of Albany, California invites you to participate in a super short, super FUN, beginner-friendly, spectator-friendly triathlon on October 5th, 2013! The event will be held in and around the Albany aquatics center, recently renovated in 2012. The goal is to raise funds for Albany high school athletic programs, promote fitness in the community, and showcase just how fun a multi-sport event can be!
It is a "super sprint" distance triathlon with the same course as in 2012: a 400 meter swim, followed by a 10 km (6.2 miles) bike ride and then a 3 km (1.9 miles) run. The swim will take place in the outdoor pool in heats of ~18 swimmers with 2 people splitting each lane (17 laps at 25 yards/length = ~400 meters). The bike course consists of 11 laps of a 0.9 km loop around the pool + park + high school (clockwise). The run is 3.4 loops on the same course as the bike course (counterclockwise).
