The MOMS Club of Aiken
MOMS Club® of Aiken (Moms Offering Moms Support) is a group of mothers offering support to stay-at-home moms and their children as well as helping families in our community through service projects.
The Savannah River Cancer Foundation: The mission of the Savannah River Cancer Foundation is to provide help to anyone affected by cancer in our communities, the South Carolina counties of Aiken, Edgefield, Allendale and Barnwell, and to promote the early detection and prevention of cancer. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in Aiken in 2003. It operates from tax-deductible monies received through donations, grants and fundraisers. All funds stay in our communities and are used for cancer patient and family support, as well as for promoting the early detection and prevention of cancer. Economic support is available to lower-income cancer patients that meet designated financial criteria (income within 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines). Financial aid is provided to: · Help pay for cancer-related medications · Help pay for costs of transportation to and from treatment and doctors' appointments. This aid comes in the form of gas vouchers or, for those who can't drive, assistance with transportation by local agencies, where available. Emotional Support is available through our Emotional Support Group and our CanHope organization of volunteers. Our Emotional Support Group meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 3 p.m., in the Parlor of First Baptist Church of Aiken. It is non-denominational and chaplain-facilitated. For directions call 270-3958 or call our office at 649-5433. Educational support is available in the form of individual consultations to refer to other local, state and federal agencies and organizations that provide a variety of help. We also provide Fact Sheets listing information, including warning signs, of some of the most common cancers. The Savannah River Cancer Foundation has various activities, including available speakers, to disseminate information regarding the importance of screening and early detection of cancer, as well as the warning signs and symptoms and standard tests for various cancers. It also offers materials and programs aimed at the prevention of cancer in our communities. Go To Savannah River Cancer Foundation Website
