Aiken County Fall 5K Series
Take in beautiful Aiken County, SC 5K at a time. Run through picturesque state and county parks as well as three municipalities that each help to make our county such an idealic place. We have made some changes to help improve the experience of all our participants. We have improved our courses, we';ve added some fun special events that will help raise money for two worthwhile charities and we have added a Kid';s 1K race to each event.
We are really excited this year to be teaming up with Fleet Feet Sports of North Augusta/Augusta. Please take the time to go by their location and let them know you appreciate their support of our local events.
Our October race at Aiken State Natural Area will recognize the struggle against breast cancer. We encourage everyone to wear pink and will forward a portion of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. We will also have some special items for participants to mark this event.
We will kick off Movember in Wagener with an event to celebrate the fight against prostate cancer. We will have awards for the best male, female and child';s moustache and will forward a portion of the proceeds to the Movember Foundation. We will also have some special items for participants to mark this event.
Kids races will take place right after the 5K finishes and will follow a portion of the 5K course so the kids can share the same experience as the adults. All the Kids 1K races will be $5.
Boyd Pond Park, September 1 - this newest addition to the Aiken County Parks system will offer a unique challenge for runners of all skill levels. Course is primarily off-road and somewhat hilly terrain. Race begins @ 8:00 a.m.
Silver Bluff Audubon Sanctuary in Jackson, September 22 - come run through this beautiful park that borders the Savannah River. Unpaved roads and off-road course. Bring the family and take in some of the educational opportunities in their interpretive centers. Race begins @ 8:00 a.m.
Aiken State Natural Area, October 13 - This is our event to celebrate the fight against breast cancer. It takes place on a relatively flat, paved trail through a natural forest setting. Donations to the park are greatly appreciated and can be left at the front gate when you enter. Race begins @ 8:00 a.m.
Town of Wagener, November 3 - Kick off Movember with this event wher we will run to recognize the efforts to end prostate cancer. The race starts at A.L. Corbett Middle School and winds through the neighborhood and back. Paved roads and dirt course. Race begins @ 8:00 a.m.
USC-Aiken Pacer Path, December 1 - come run on the same course as the Pacers Cross Country team. This is our final event of the season and we will present awards to the overall finishers. Off-road course. Race begins @ 8:00 a.m.
