What's Included

Learn how to make the bookcase that became the foundation of the Library of Congress. Students will focus on hand cut dovetails and will learn to use a dovetail saw and a variety of planes, building book boxes that can be stacked on top of each other to create a beautiful bookcase. The dovetail joint is considered the benchmark of fine furniture and solid construction. This is the joint that separates the masterpiece from the ordinary. No tools or experience is required. High quality tools will be provided. Students will be allowed open studio time on Sundays during the weeks of class. On this day, students are welcome to come to the shop and use the tools to catch up on and refine the classroom project.
