The Low Glycemic Breakfast
To start your day with a slow, steady flow of energy, try some of these balanced, low glycemic breakfast ideas:
1.) 1 cup cooked oatmeal + 1/2 diced apple + 1 tbsp almonds + sprinkle of cinnamon
2.) 2 scrambled eggs + non-starchy vegetables (i.e. onions, bell peppers, spinach) + 1 whole wheat tortilla
3.) 1 cup oat bran cereal + 1/2 cup skim milk + 1/2 cup sliced strawberries
4.) Non-fat plain Greek yogurt + 1/2 cup blueberries + 1/4 cup muesli
5.) 100 percent stone ground whole wheat bread or pumpernickel bread + 1 tbsp nut butter of choice + small banana (1/2 large banana)
