The 1st Annual Acadiana Runners Ball is scheduled for Saturday, March 31st at 5PM at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in Opelousas. In continued tradition of the Victory for Veterans 5K, runners will be greeted at the finish line with a link of boudin; however, this year they will cross that finish line inside the Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Convention Center directly in front of the stage where Horace Trahan will be playing his famous zydeco hits.LIVE! Come join the running community of Acadiana as we race and celebrate together. Horace Trahan will take the stage at 5PM when the starting gun is fired, and remain on stage until 8PM. The event welcomes runners and spectators of all ages. Join us for the 2nd annual Victory for Veterans 5K with the new addition of the Acadiana Runners Ball!!! 100% of the proceeds from this years event (and every year for that matter) benefit veterans and their families.
Event Pricing and Registration Information:
-$30 Registration Donation for 5K & 1 Mile Run Participants (Participant registration includes race t-shirt, two drink tickets, & a packed goodie bag)
-Registration Available on Active.com
-$5 Spectator Donation (Includes entry into the Convention Center, live entertainment provided by Horace Trahan, & access to cash bar where soft drinks and adult beverages will be a available)
-Spectators under the age of 18 enter free
-Limited Race Shirts will be on sale for spectators during the event for a $15 donation
Course Information (Subject to Change Prior to Race Day):
-5K Route will start at the rear parking lot of Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino (behind hotel). Runners will follow the course to the gates of Evangeline Downs and turn right heading west on Creswell Drive. A u-turn and water station will setup at the halfway mark. Runners will then follow course back to the Convention Center where the finish line will be placed directly in front of the entertainment stage, inside the facility.
-1 Mile Run / Walk route will start and end in the same manner as the 5K, however the turnaround will be inside the gates of Evangeline Downs. The finish line will also be inside the Convention Center.
