AGAPE (Love) Run is the first (and hopefully annual) outreach event of Taylor Road Baptist Church. Proceeds of this year's run will go towards the medical expenses of Amelia Word.
Amelia, a strong 16 year old, is fighting cancer for the second time in her life. In 2002, at age 6, she was diagnosed with a rare ovarian germ cell tumor. Nine (9) years, 1 month, and 12 days after her last treatment, and very soon after paying the final bill on her last treatments, she was diagnosed with ALL (leukemia). Her situation, again, is somewhat rare. She is being treated with the highest doses of chemo possible. These treatments knock her immune system down to practically nothing, yet her spirit is not shaken. Amelia spent her 16th birthday in the hospital and has found herself in some very tough situations, which most 16 year olds will never experience. She clings to God's word as her emotional and spiritual strength when she has none physically. If her treatments stay on schedule she will complete the roughest part around January 2013. She will continue to take a lower dose of chemo for the next several months. The end of treatment should fall in the summer of 2014. Her strength has been Proverbs 31:25 - "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
5K - $25 before January 16; then $30. 1 mile - $15 before January 16; then $20
