Thursday, September 13, 2012: Schlitz Park 5K Challenge, a Milwaukee River Challenge Weekend event. A scenic 5K course starts and finishes at historic Schlitz Park while one mile family fun jog/walk circles the grounds. Awards: 5K only. Top 3 places M/F 5-year age groups. Registration: Online and onsite at 4:30p. Race: 5:30p Schlitz Park at the tent at 1555 N. RiverCenter Drive boat launch. Limited to 400 participants. Chip timed. Fee: $20 thru March 15, $25 thru August 15, $30 thru race day. Register at Perks: Technical T-shirt. Beneficiary: Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Post Race: Food, drink & entertainment.
The Schlitz Park 5K kicks off the Milwaukee River Challenge weekend. Billed as the most accessible rowing race for viewing in America, the 12th annual Milwaukee River Challenge is Saturday, September 15 and features dozens of collegiate and club teams testing their rowing skills, stamina and precision on a single-leg, 3-mile challenge on the Menomonee and Milwaukee Rivers in downtown Milwaukee. www.milwaukeeriverchallenge.com
