Description
The 1st Annual End of the Mountain* 5K Run/Walk benefits continued restoration of the John I. Thompson Grain Elevator and Coal Sheds.
The USA Track and Field Certified 5K course (Certification Code PA11043WB) starts and finishes on the Village Green with loops around Nittany Orchards and 1st Avenue that provide a complete tour of the end of Mount Nittany. The children's race will be held on the Village Green. The 5K course map is available at the Lemont Village Association (LVA) website.
T-shirts are guaranteed to all registrations received by Saturday May 5, 2012 and while supplies last on the day of the race.
Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd male and female overall finishers.
Tours of the John I. Thompson Grain Elevator and Coal Sheds will be held throughout the morning and after the awards ceremony.
* Lemont was first known as "End of the Mountain" due to its location at the base of Mount Nittany, The village was laid out in 1870 by Moses Thompson and renamed Lemont (Anglicized French for "The Mountain") by his son, John I. Thompson.
