Paws for the Cause Autism Service Dogs is holding their first 5K and 1 mile fun run. There will be fun for every age. Before and after the run there will be music, treats, bounce houses, face paining for the kids a chance to meet Stella (our service dog) and other dogs in training for children with autism. Bring your dog for the 1 mile walk. Ryan Olsen with Salt Lake K9 will be there to answer any questions about how these dogs are trained. There will also be a raffle and silent auction after the run so you will want to stick around to get some great things. All the proceeds will go toward children with autism who are waiting for a service dog. Some of the venders donating are Roxberry, The Home Depot, Chick-fil-A, Little Cesars, Olive Garden, U Swirl, Cinemark, SnugZ, Young Living, Creamies, Maurices, Lehi Bakery, Texas Road House, Mountain Medical, Mountain American Credit Union and much more.
Autism now affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys. Service dogs provide a physical and emotional anchor for children with autism. With their child tethered to a service dog, families feel they are newly freed to engage in activities as simple as going to the park. The dog has a calming presence that can minimize and often eliminate emotional outbursts, enabling the child to more fully participate in daily activities. A service dog helps increase the opportunity for the child to develop social and language skills. We are trying to raise money for children with Autism to recieve a service dog and help them in their every day life.
Event schedule and times
Race day is October 6th 2012 in Lehi Utah. Packet pick up will be October 5th from 5:00-7:30 pm and race day from 6:00-7:45 am. The race is located at the Pointe Meadows Library 2100 N. Pointe Meadow Drive (1900 W.) Lehi Utah 84043. Race day registration is available for $25.00 per adult and $20.00 for children. T-shirts sizes will be limited for race day registers so first come first serve. We can't wait to see you there!
