Description
This is the 1st Race in the KTC Triple Crown Series. Participants who run all 3 races and work at least 1 as a volunteer are eligble for a Special Prize drawing at the Pilot Fireball Classic 5K Run/Walk on July 3rd, 2010. The TN Sports Medicine Expo race is the 2nd in this series.
This race is also part of the Dogwood Run Series including the Covenant Health Dogwood Mile and the PetSafe Village Dogwood Classic 5K Run/Walk. The Overall Male and Female winners (based on cumulative time) will receive a special award. There will be a random prize drawing for male and female for those participating in both races.
Date, Time, and Place: Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 8 am at the west of Cherokee Boulevard in Sequoyah Hills. Dogs must be on leashes to participate in the Dogwalk.
Course Description and Highlights: USATF Certified #TN4012DJR. The route is an out and back on Cherokee Boulevard beginning in the eastbound lanes near the west park entrance. Course runs to Talahi Drive and back in the westbound lanes to Southgate Road. Runners cross back over to the eastbound lanes to finish just before the park. The Dogwalk will go out and back along the river. Course will close after 1 hour, 10 minutes. NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED IN THE 5K!
Registration and Entry Fee: Early registration price is $20 for the 5K Run/Walk until Friday, April 16, 2010. Late and Race day registration price is $25 for the 5K Run/Walk. KTC Members deduct $5 during early registration. No discounts on race day. No t-shirt option - deduct $5. Dogwalk participant entry price is $15 through race day. Race day registration will be available from 6:30 am to 7:45 am in the race tent.
Awards: Awards to the top 3 Overall, top Masters (40+), Grandmasters (50+), and Veterans (60+) for male and female. Awards to the top 3 Clydesdale (male, 200+ lbs) and Athena (female, 150+ lbs). Awards to the top teams in the Open, Women's, and Corporate divisions. Age groups 14 and under then 5 year increments (three deep). Overall winners not eligible for age division awards. Awards must be picked up on race morning or at Runners Market at Western Plaza beginning April 26 (Monday). Awards will not be mailed.
Team Competition: This race is part of the 2010 Grand Prix Team Competition. Please visit www.ktc.org for information on team competition.
Grand Prix: This race is part of the 2010 Grand Prix Series. Remember, to participate in the Grand Prix, runners must be a KTC Member and must volunter for at least 3 KTC events throughout 2010.
Race Etiquette: Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, strollers (including jog strollers), bicycles, and dogs are not allowed on the 5K course. Headphones are strongly discouraged on the 5K Course. Dogs MUST be on leashes to participate in the Dogwalk.
