Description
The Running for Our Heroes (R4OH) 5K & 1M Fun Run will act as a fundraiser for two incredible foundations, the LCpl Blake Rodgers Foundation and the A HERO Foundation. The LCpl Blake Rodgers Foundation awards an annual scholarship in Marine LCpl Blake Rodgers's memory to a Spalding High School (Griffin, GA) JROTC cadet with plans to enter military service following college graduation, while the A HERO Foundation (America's Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors) helps wounded veterans re-acclimate and begin the healing process through outdoor recreation. All proceeds from the R4OH race will be donated to these two foundations.
This race is an off-road race and will be held at Kiesel Park in Auburn, AL. Although the course at Kiesel is technically a trail, it is very flat with a clearly indicated path. There will also be signage that designates the path for each event (5K or 1M). The course consists of a 1 mile trail and a 2 mile trail (5K participants will run the 2 trail plus a lap around the 1 mile loop). The course will allow for both running and walking, and ALL fitness levels and age groups are welcome. ATTENTION: Dogs are allowed at Kiesel Park, but will not be allowed on the course during the race. Strollers will be allowed during the 1M portion of the event; however, the R4OH committee is not responsible for any damage to the stroller.
Military personnel are encouraged to participate as well and will be offered a discounted registration fee. Please be prepared to show your military ID.
If you would like to help, but arent able to participate, you have the option to donate! By registering as Donation Only, you send $10 to support R4OH (please select none for t-shirt size).
PLEASE NOTE: Each participant that registers prior to midnight on Friday, 24 August will receive a t-shirt. There will be a limited supply of t-shirts onsite on the day of the race for individuals who register on 25 August or later on a first come, first serve basis
