Description
The 2012 Central Coast Cancer Challenge is a multi-sport event that raises funds for cancer support services and charities. The 5K (flat course) and 10K (thigh-burning/advanced/up Cerro San Luis) are open space TRAIL RUNS and the Children's 1-Mile FUN RUN is on a paved road for children (no strollers on the trails, sorry).
The cycling events take the rider through the backroads of San Luis Obispo, past farm and ranch land, vineyards and the Pacific Ocean. The 22K FAMILY RIDE is a relatively flat ride to the Bob Jones Trail and back. The 50K and 100K INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED RIDES take the cyclist through the beautiful Edna Valley with some challenging rolling hills and slow rollers., into San Luis Obispo's wine country and back along the Pacific Ocean.
Participants can register as a team and receive deep discounts or register individually.
The event features the Avila Bay Club Wellness Expo where participants can participate in classes (ZOOMBA and Yoga), learn about and buy products that contribute to a healthy lifestyle, enjoy informational seminars and learn about many cancer educational resources.
Athletes, their families and the general public are invited to enjoy the FREE "No Mo Cancer" Music throughout the day, the beautiful setting, food from local restaurants, a massage tent and the event's beer and wine garden (No dogs please).
Take the challenge and help us support cancer patients, survivors and their families. Proceeds benefit Jack's Helping Hand and The Cancer WellFit Program.
